Current trend I'm noticing is tags for placecards. Kraft is definitely the most popular. I think it's a pretty sweet idea and they can be tied to a multitude of party favors.

Ritz-Carlton Holiday Card

Tova Glenn, of Brighten My Day in Atlanta, designed this holiday card for the Ritz-Carlton in Georgia. I had the pleasure of working with her to incorporate my calligraphy. This unique, circular card is deep eggplant with copper foil stamped lettering and a beveled copper edge.

Brush Lettering

I recently had the opportunity to visit a plantation while I was on vacation in New Orleans. Whitney plantation is an historic landmark built by African Slaves. The Plantation pays homage to all the slaves that were there and elsewhere in the U.S.South. This photo is of an original slave quarter from the 1700's. and the amazing clay sculpture was done by Woodrow Nash. Nash did many sculptures of the slave children on the plantation.

Brush lettered Menu

I just finished this menu for a client giving a small dinner to introduce her new business, Hunt & Gather. All the lettering is done with a brush. The menu sounds delicious!

New Business Card!

Just got my new cards that I designed and had printed by Sugar Paper. Doing something simple works really well with letterpress printing because the texture it creates adds an interesting element.

Website Logo

Here are two options I offered the client for her website heading. One of the goals was to have the lettering vary in shades of grey. It's subtle but it worked. The bottom more whimsical and I think the top one more sophisticated. Sarah chose the top one which I think works well with her style.

Box Addressing

I recently worked on an addressing job for a client of Bliss and Bone, a company designing custom stationery and invitations, providing graphic design for print and the web. This one was a challenge! The boxes were 6 x 9 x 1, white ink, two different styles, with the script (Monte Carlo Pro) extra large and all done on an angle. Thankfully they came out nice and the customer was happy with them.

Bookmark Collaboration

I just collaborated on these bookmarks with my friend and amazing painter, Pamela Harnois. These are gifts for her painting students. 

New Addressing Style

This is the first time I've used the lettering style from the Sugar Paper calendar for envelope addressing. When I did the lettering for the calendar, I had to draw the letters and build them up. Because the size of the writing on the envelope is so much smaller, I was able to use pointed pen calligraphy for the job without having to draw the letters.

Brush Lettering

I've always enjoyed using a brush for calligraphy. It's not the easiest tool to control, but it's fun. These are some name tags I did for Sugar Paper.

Sugar Paper + Paperless Post

Sugar Paper, one of my best clients,  has created a lovely line of invitations for Paperless Post . Above are a couple of invites that incorporate my calligraphy. Here's the article featured in InStyle magazine!

Kraft Menu & Table Numbers

Layout and fonts designed by Sugar Paper, I used white gouache on the kraft paper. White on kraft is one of my favorites!

Coral & White Wedding

Seating envelopes white with coral ink and wedding signage coral with white ink. The font I copied is called Burgues script. White always pops nicely on color!

Wedding Signage & Monogram

I was hired by Samantha Scott Events to create this playful monogram for a bride and groom's wedding. I've included the black & white original since it's a little tough to see the foil stamping in the photo of the napkin.

Below are a couple of the chalkboard signs I made as well as the program cover. I've included the black and white lettering for the program cover as well since it's easier to see.

Marker Quicky

Just writing a client's name on a clear bag for pick up. I used a felt tip brush marker.

Racing Boat Logo

 

Final lettering for a long time client of my whose husband has been racing boats for years. Brush lettering with a drop shadow. The photo below shows it on the actual boat.

Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Every year I personalize menus for Vanity Fair's Academy Awards viewing party. This year it was at Spago. The photo on the right shows how the table setting looks with the menu and a small booklet they put together that contains all the Oscar nominees. Part of the job is to be on site before the event in case any last minute calligraphy is needed. It's always fun to go to the venue and see how pretty it comes together!
